Fundið - Týnt og fundið á Íslandi
Fundið is a free, map-based lost & found platform for Iceland. Anyone can report a lost or found item, pin it on a map, add a photo, and let the community help get it home.
The problem
Lost & found in Iceland is fragmented. Facebook groups, police stations, notice boards, none of them connected. If you lose your wallet in Laugavegur, you have to check five different places and hope someone posted about it. Fundið puts everything on one map.
How it works
- Report a lost or found item with a photo, description, and a pin on the map.
- Browse the map or list to see items near you.
- Contact the poster through an anonymous email relay. Neither party sees the other's email.
- Close the listing with your claim code when the item is returned. No accounts needed.
- Print a flyer with a QR code for physical notice boards.
Privacy
All communication goes through Fundið's email relay. Your email is never shown publicly, sold, or shared. Anonymous usage analytics only (PostHog, no cookies). Listings auto-delete after 90 days (returned) or 6 months (unclaimed). Full details on the site.
Tech
SvelteKit, Supabase (Postgres + PostGIS), MapLibre GL JS, Cloudflare Pages. Bilingual (Icelandic/English) via Tolgee. PWA with offline support. Open to contributions.
